Q What size of pipe work can Tadpole be fitted to?
A A Tadpole comes in standard connection size of 22mm to suit normal domestic heating systems. A special Tadpole with 28mm connection size can be ordered for Heat Pump installations and abnormally large domestic heating systems with 28mm pipe work.

Q Is Tadpole either complicated or expensive to install?
A No. Tadpole has only two connections and an auto air vent, which is provided to install. Including the drain down and recommission installation should take no more than two hours

Q Is the Tadpole connected to elecricity?
A No, the Tadpole has no working parts and does not require an electrical connection

Q I have a deaerator fitted, why do I need Tadpole?
A It was thought that fitting a deaerator would solve the problems of corrosion in heating systems, but, as we have discovered, they only deal with the symptoms. Some actually have a sludge trap, so are not deaerating fully. Tadpole, when installed, will reduce dissolved air to such a level, that even after years of continuous running the heating water will remain crystal clear.

Q Can Tadpole be fitted to a tank fed or gravity system?
A Yes, Tadpole was originally designed to be installed with tank or gravity fed system to great effect

Q Can Tadpole be installed in a "sealed" system?
A Yes, it was at first thought that there would be little benefit from fitting Tadpole to a sealed system? but recent tests have proven that the benefit to sealed systems is as great as with the older type open vent or tank fed systems.

Q What is the limitation to the types of heating system that Tadpole can be installed with?
A There are no limitations to the type of domestic heating system that Tadpole can be installed with

Q How quickly does the Tadpole affect the performance of a heating system?
A The effect on a heating system is almost immediate, then, over the next three to four weeks, there is a gradual improvement over and above the initial improvement

Q My heating system has had a corrosion inhibiter added, will Tadpole still work?
A Yes. All Boiler manufacturers provide corrosion inhibiters with new boilers. The inhibiter will not affect the way Tadpole eliminates dissolved air.

Q I have a ground source heat pump. Will Tadpole work the ground loop?
A Yes. Recent research has shown that the addition of Tadpole to a ground loop may provide an increase in CoP

Q Can Tadpole be installed with oil boilers?
A Yes. Tadpole will bring about a benefit to oil, gas, lpg and electric boilers. results may vary

Q I have an old fire back boiler. Will Tadpole help it become more efficient?
A Most certainly. Tadpole was developed from an original technology that was specifically intended for fire back boilers

Q I live in a flat with a fireback boiler and have constant problems with having to bleed radiators, will Tadpole help me overcome this problem
A Yes. Tadpole has been designed to work with heating systems that have a very low feed and expansion tank. It will be a tremendous benefit to your system. It will eliminate all the air that is sucked in to a system with a very low feed and expansion tank very quickly before it can do any harm to your system

Q My system is quite old and has always been noisy. Can Tadpole help with this problem?

A Yes. The cause of the noise in this system is air that has formed bubbles which causes a "kettling" noise. Other noises such as gurgling are also caused by air. Tadpole eliminates dissolved and free air which will stop all the noises associated with air.

Q I have a ground source heat pump. Will Tadpole be any benefit to the performance of it and how?
A There are two ways to improve the performance of a ground source heat pump. Tadpole may be installed with the ground loop in isolation. This will improve the rate at which the refrigerant absorbs the low grade heat from the ground. A second Tadpole installed in the primary circuit will improve the way the heating water conducts the heat from the plate heat exchanger.

Q I have a combination boiler. Can Tadpole be fitted to it?
A Yes, The pump on a combination boiler is "on the return", so Tadpole is simply fitted to the heating return pipe coming back to the boiler

Q I have a "Condensing" Boiler, surely Tadpole cannot make improvements to this type of boiler?

A Because Tadpole is installed in the heating system, fitting it to a condensing boiler will still bring about big improvements to your system

Q What kind of improvement can Tadpole make to a Condensing Combination Boiler?
A Experience has taught us that with some types of condensing combination boiler, the main primary thermostat needs to be turned down by as much as a third. On other types, where the primary temperature is displayed, the initial reduction in primary temperature is around 10°C, with further reductions necessary

Q What primary temperature can a combination boiler be expected to run at with Tadpole installed?
A Where the temperature is displayed, a reduction of primary temperature down to 59°C is possible

Q Will the domestic hot water be affected by the fitting of Tadpole with a Combination Boiler?
A Because the d.h.w. temperature is limited to 50°C, there will be a slightly faster heat up, resulting in less waste water

Q How does Tadpole work with heat pumps?
A Generally, the pumping velocities of all types of heat pump are much higher than with gas boilers, Tadpole is installed on the "positive" side of the pump. The effect on heat pump is more gradual, because there is not the "sucking" effect, but the end result is a significant improvement to the performance of a heat pump.

Q Does Tadpole lessen the performance of a heat pump?
A Just the opposite, with Tadpole in the ground loop of a g.s.h.p., there can be an increase in C.o.P of around 8%

Q Does Tadpole have a guarantee?
A Yes, has a life time in excess of 40 years.

Q I have a large, old system with some radiators that never get as warm as the rest, will Tadpole make a difference?
A Yes. It won't be instant, but after a couple of weeks all the radiators should be heating up and at the same temperature.

Q Where can the Tadpole be fitted on the system, there is no room next to the boiler, can it be fitted in the loft?
A With a normal gas or oil heating system, Tadpole is fitted in such a position such as the airing cupboard where the pump "sucks" the water through it. If necessary, it can go in the loft or any convenient place. It doesn't have to be close to the boiler.

Q Can the Tadpole be made in white?
A In simple terms, yes. Our thinking on the colour of Tadpole has changed when we realised it would work with combination boilers which are normally in kitchens and have white casings.

Q You say a lifetime cover, how long will the air vent last and who will replaces it.
A The air vent is a mechanical device which will last a long time if it gets regular (once a year) attention. Some very dirty systems may prevent the valve seat from sealing after about a couple of years.
We will fit the valve with a spring loaded check valve, so that it can be removed easily without having to partially drain down the system. A simple rinse under a tap is sufficient to restore the seal on the valve. As the system cleans itself up, this problem will disappear and the valve will last for many years. The Tadpole itself is made from very thick copper and has a life of over 40 years.
